Legacy Brainstorming Inventory
[!IMPORTANT] Do not work from this checklist. It is a legacy brainstorming inventory preserved as context. The only current author-facing story-development TODO is named by Current Weekly Completion TODO and displayed on the public Story Completion dashboard. New discoveries go through Current Week Intake and the weekly synthesis before they can alter that list.
Work through these one at a time in the next brainstorming sessions. The immediate center of gravity has shifted toward defining the contained-criminal leadership, the legitimate dynasties, Sylvan's unique developmental process, and the approximately eighty-year episodic middle.
Preserved former sequence
- [ ] Use the development-first system for each priority below. Begin with the Gap Analyzer, generate breadth cheaply, deepen only survivors, use research only when it can change the story, create only the cast required by structure, prototype one representative scene when useful, run Creative Interest plus relevant structural/listener critics, and stop at the author gate. See 08 Story Loop/DEVELOPMENT-ORCHESTRATOR.
0a. [x] Implement journal artifacts and Weekly Story Synthesis. The vault now has five seeded journal profiles, including Orzai's working visual-development profile, plus registries, entry/image templates, forensic integration, two proposed Samuel/Konrad entries, ten weekly reports, three optional audits, and Story Loop routing. See 02 Story/Artifacts/Journals/00 Journal System and 07 Coordination/Weekly Synthesis/README.
0b. [ ] Run the next Weekly Story Synthesis and journal approval pass. Use Deep or Exhaustive mode against the full vault, then review the queue before any promotions. Konrad's late-containment visual identity was approved on 2026-09-03; George still requires an approved identity reference before visible-person generation.
0c. [x] Build four distinct journal design bibles and candidate boards. Samuel, Konrad, Sylvan, and Orzai now have differentiated physical objects, handwriting construction, drawing grammar, word/image integration, emotional variants, forensic fingerprints, extensive exact sample libraries, and object-only candidate boards. All boards remain unapproved; Sylvan's generated dates and numeric confidence are explicitly invalid placeholders. See 02 Story/Artifacts/Journals/05 Four-Journal Differentiation Matrix.
- [ ] Define Konrad Fitzgerald's fanatic partner. Give the senior contained faction a second sincere ideological leader: name, personality, doctrine, relationship to Konrad, organizational role, family, and eventual relationship to Samuel Franklin.
- [ ] Build Samuel and George's unresolved thirty-year prewar history. Samuel's failed privileged-heir status, underage relationship, family/organizational exile roughly thirty years before the Great War, Konrad's impossible takeover mission designed to fail, George's authentic apparent success, their private wrongdoing, and George's humiliating bust into containment are established. Define Samuel's age and material losses, why Konrad chooses this form of disposal, how failure is guaranteed, who operationally places them, George's real authority, the private and overt acts they choose, Samuel's containment status and consequences, and what Samuel's parents know. Do not restore the superseded fifty-year rampage by default.
- [ ] Build Samuel's inheritance obsession beyond the established misconduct. Define how exile from a system that worships ancestry, pedigree, bloodline, family continuity, succession, and inheritance becomes revenge against those exact systems. Develop his pleasure in desecrating genealogical certainty, his failed-heir resentment, and the turn from punishment to appropriation. Additional abuses remain unresolved; do not invent a separate hidden allegiance unless later selected.
- [ ] Define the two founder couples of the second-largest empire. Give each of the four founders a distinct role in humanity's success and colonization project, worldview, relationship to the spouse and other couple, and reason for participating in the shared leadership-development system.
- [ ] Map and name the founders' four children. Each founder couple has one son and one daughter. Define the four-person first family generation, the two cross-couple relationships, their personalities, specialties, and Great War placements.
- [ ] Design the four children's Great War roles. Place the founders' two sons and two daughters into constrained political, religious, institutional, or other public roles where they must confront the contained faction's authoritarianism and mass abuses without possessing unlimited power. Determine which of Orzai's parents carries the Witness role and what role the other parent plays in believing, doubting, corroborating, or being endangered by that knowledge.
- [ ] Map the four grandchildren. Each cross-couple has one son and one daughter. Define the two grandsons and two granddaughters, then determine which cross-couple are Orzai's parents. All four grandchildren descend from both founder couples. Orzai is established as Sylvan's partner; her older brother is approximately a decade older than Sylvan and receives a consequential company placement.
- [ ] Continue developing Orzai as a person and professional. Her name, place in Sylvan's generation, slightly younger relative age, emerging-leader training, reserved/introverted temperament, health and nutrition interests, creative design/video/3D-modeling capability, complementary but independent relationship with outgoing Sylvan, and intended role as his partner are established. The working career arc moves from health visualization toward interactive training and population-scale colonization health systems. She is not the Witness. Define her education, first professional home, strongest medium, signature project, specific worldview, upbringing, relationship to her parents' Great War history, contribution to the archive, leadership failure, first meeting with Sylvan, and reason for choosing him.
- [ ] Define Sylvan's parents and their one-child decision. Establish the male and female leaders of the largest empire, their history, their role in colonization, why they chose one son, and what they believe Sylvan's unusual process can prove.
- [ ] Define Sylvan's unique developmental process. Establish how it differs from conventional heir training, what constraints and risks it imposes, what human capacities it is intended to test, and what counts as success or failure.
- [ ] Define the unprecedented Luminai outcome. Explain how Sylvan's experiences transform the AI self developing with him, why no previous Luminai has developed this way, what capabilities or relationship emerge, and what hard limits remain.
11a. [ ] Test the developing Luminai presentation and romantic synchronization rules. Apply the process to one heterosexual couple and at least one different orientation or relationship structure. Define consent renewal, privacy layers, conflict repair, emergency access, and separation without turning Luminai into romantic substitutes.
- [ ] Lock the senior contained-criminal structure. Map the parent generation operating from contained privilege and management environments, their descendants inserted into reconstructed environments, internal hierarchy, competing motives, and the distinction between ideological believers and opportunists.
- [ ] Define Konrad's Great War conquest project. Build the faction's political base, the city/country/empire escalation if retained, whom they harmed, their authoritarian strategic failures, what Samuel's sabotage changed, what evidence survived, and how defeat delivered the senior leadership into the victorious containment environment.
- [ ] Build the first Great War heir episode. Turn one legitimate heir's constrained role into a complete smaller story involving a concrete atrocity, institution, choice, failed intervention, partial success, or discovery.
- [x] Generate the initial eighty-year middle-story map. The four working eras and sixteen candidate milestone arcs now provide the first scaffold in 02 Story/Treatments/2026-08-14 - Eighty-Year Middle Architecture.
15a. [ ] Test and sequence the middle-story map. Decide which milestone arcs are essential, assign viewpoint and character ownership, establish causal handoffs, place the Witness and Inheritor threads, and identify which events advance in parallel.
- [ ] Establish hard limits for story functionality and synthetic control. Define what role technology, mental/physical interfaces, energy systems, and the overwhelmingly synthetic population can enforce or influence, and what they cannot rewrite. Preserve agency, evidence, responsibility, resistance, and meaningful constraints.
- [ ] Define the Daemon/Luminai relationship to manufactured reality. Decide how AI selves receive, interpret, challenge, or become corrupted by staged evidence and what happens when one begins detecting manipulation.
- [ ] Build George's prewar apparent-success and bust sequence. Define his age, public identity, real authority, who operationally places Samuel and George, what the largest government believes, how Konrad guarantees the mission's failure, what Samuel and George choose to do privately and overtly, the humiliating exposure, the containment procedure, Samuel's consequences, and how this phase relates to George's later three public roles.
- [ ] Invent the first devastating George document. Create one clear piece of pre-defeat evidence showing that George's original role contradicts the later claim that he secretly controlled the victor.
- [ ] Work out how the False Victory is sold. Define the post-defeat scene or sequence in which Samuel claims his exile assignment succeeded, offers the defeated leaders access to systems he supposedly controls, and persuades them that the loss was actually a covert victory through George. Identify the first doubters and why they remain silent.
20a. [ ] Define the surveillance-deal mechanism without granting omniscience. Decide what Samuel falsely claims to control, what narrower privileged access he really possesses, why the faction cannot verify the difference, what it must connect, adopt, authorize, or disclose, what first reveals the truth of his exile, how long the deception lasts, and which later genealogy or blackmail capabilities depend on the information he gains. Preserve agency and the established technology ecology.
20b. [ ] Resolve the Samuel–Konrad containment hierarchy piece by piece. Preserve that Konrad genuinely controlled his own city, never considered failure, loses jurisdiction only after defeat inside the largest empire's containment environment, and still sees Samuel as an outsider. Define one at a time the first-primary rule, lock event, Samuel's bounded jurisdiction, exact lie, reactivation/migration, automatic versus later powers, evidence, reset limits, and permanent-destruction chain. Use 08 Story Loop/Brainstorms/Samuel-Konrad Containment Hierarchy - Needs Analysis; do not infer the missing mechanics from the accepted migration hinge.
- [ ] Define George's subjective reality during the endgame. Establish recurring categories of staged or manipulated evidence that convince him the final campaign remains real and winnable.
- [ ] Design Sylvan's first proof rather than his final proof. Choose a limited, undeniable discovery that causes people to question Samuel's narrative before the full archive or lineage system is exposed.
- [ ] Solve the lineage exposure problem ethically. Determine how Sylvan demonstrates systematic reproductive and genealogical manipulation without publicly exposing individual children or private parentage.
- [ ] Decide exactly when and how Sylvan realizes George is not truly in command. Build the discovery through observable anomalies, tests, failed attacks, conveniently timed explanations, and evidence of an unseen decision-maker continuously maintaining George's reality.
- [ ] Define the order of George's final discoveries. Decide when he learns that the empire lost, his successes were manufactured, his father is still controlling his perceptions, the final fight was unwinnable, another heir exists, and that his father may have deliberately sent him to be destroyed.
- [ ] Resolve the Witness / Sylvan viewpoint structure enough to write. One of Orzai's Great War-era parents is the leading candidate to carry dangerous historical knowledge; Sylvan carries the modern Inheritor role. Decide whether Sylvan is the sole primary narrator or the Witness owns substantial earlier viewpoint material, then define how the evidence reaches Orzai and Sylvan.
- [x] Separate development rendering from later finished prose. Development prototypes are now the default story-rendering mode: short, readable, conversational, problem-solving-driven, and disposable. Archive Thriller / Dark Historical Reconstruction remains an active later manuscript candidate and supporting register; Jurassic Park-style exposition remains retired. General Expeditionary Force-associated structural principles may influence development, but Craig Alanson's exact prose and distinctive expression may not be imitated.
- [ ] Plan the first handwritten fiction experiment. Once enough of the skeleton exists, select a contained episode or short-story arc that can be written by hand with pen and notebook using the vault only as reference. Use this as the bridge from AI-assisted development into learning and practicing human fiction writing.
- [ ] Give the remaining central world permanent invented names. Samuel Franklin and Konrad Fitzgerald are locked. Still name Konrad's partner, the great empires and founders, original state/city, defeated alliance, victorious republic, foundational war, major parent-civilization schools or factions, and the institution administering containment.
- [ ] Resolve Konrad's verified genealogy. Decide which child produces the genuine grandson, map what remains biological afterward, and define how Samuel's unauthorized descendants, falsified records, and synthetic substitutions create the false flourishing dynasty.
- [ ] Build Samuel Jr. and his company. Name the replacement heir and his fictional government-integrated decision-systems company; define products, oversight, government dependence, colonization role, loyalties, and whether identity resolution exposes Samuel's hidden genealogy.
31a. [ ] Build Orzai's older brother and the legitimate company counterpart. Name him and the company; define his bounded role, products or institutional mandate, oversight, government relationship, development purpose, and whether his systems cooperate or collide with Samuel Jr.'s company while exposing the hidden genealogy.
- [ ] Test the visual-generation production section. Build one environment packet, one technology packet, one multi-character scene, one three-frame sequence, and one short video/voice continuity test using approved identity references.
Already locked / preserve
- [x] Foundational Great War macro sequence. The rise, conquest, defeat, George contingency, containment transition, and False Victory remain the foundation. Expand later rather than reopening the macro sequence casually.
- [x] Second-largest empire founder family. Four founders form two couples. Each couple has one son and one daughter; the children form two cross-couple relationships; each cross-couple has one son and one daughter; one granddaughter becomes Sylvan's partner.
- [x] Development/authorship boundary. The vault is for AI-assisted development, research, organization, continuity, and experimentation. The intended finished fiction is human-authored, beginning with a possible shorter work written by hand from the developed reference material.
- [x] Contradictions remain visible until deliberately resolved. Do not silently reconcile genealogy, chronology, motives, or mechanisms simply to make the vault look clean.
- [x] Device handoff convention. Mobile develops and prepares handoffs; desktop reconciles files, tests, commits, pushes, and publishes through
07 Coordination/DESKTOP-QUEUE.md. - [x] Visual production architecture. Grok Imagine and GPT Image share a vault-grounded prompt system built around identity locks, scene action, world packets, cinematography, continuity, and output contracts.
Middle-story principle
Treat the approximately eighty-year colonization history as a story engine, not an exposition block. Build smaller episodes around different heirs, contained criminals, roles, crises, institutions, relationships, and discoveries. Each should work locally while adding consequences that eventually converge on the Sylvan endgame.
Current middle-story references
- 02 Story/Treatments/2026-08-14 - Current Story Treatment — continuous beginning-to-end treatment; use for the present macro spine.
- 02 Story/Treatments/2026-08-14 - Eighty-Year Middle Architecture — four provisional twenty-year eras, Samuel's lie-escalation cycle, generational drift, imaginary jurisdictions, heir collisions, surviving evidence, and milestone arcs.
- 03 Context/2026-08-14 - Treatment Bridge TODO — bridge episodes and causal handoffs still requiring development.
- 02 Story/Components/Immersion and Surface Reality Principle — reader-experience and surface-world guardrails for every middle episode.
These notes are working scaffolds, not a locked episode order. Do not promote the provisional milestones to established chronology until their causal handoffs, character ownership, and relation to the Witness/Inheritor structure are tested.
Session principle
Turn explanations into evidence, choices, and situations the characters can actually encounter.
For each item, prefer concrete artifacts and moments: a record, conversation, constrained role, failed intervention, staged sign, institutional decision, discovery, betrayal, relationship, or choice. Preserve exploration in 01 Sessions/Daily/, promote settled material into 02 Story/, update the relevant 03 Context/ files, and record consequential decisions in 07 QA/Decisions.md.
