Tone and Narrative Method
The current development default is Development Prototype Style: short, readable, problem-solving-driven, conversational story simulations used to test structure. Archive Thriller / Dark Historical Reconstruction remains the active later manuscript candidate and supporting register. The previous Jurassic Park-style explanatory register is retired. See 03 Context/WRITING-STYLE.
- Reconstruct the accepted history, the surviving record, and the detail that changes the interpretation.
- Reveal technology and world systems through records, consequences, and use rather than explanatory set pieces.
- Nobody knows the whole system. Explanations are incomplete, interested, and often wrong.
- Use cold historical reconstruction for exposition; political grotesque and leadership dialogue for the contained senior faction; and close psychological prose for lived experience.
- Use the turn sparingly: establish one interpretation, then let a final fact or sentence alter what preceded it.
- Throne scenes emphasize pettiness, performance, insecurity, cruelty, and bureaucratic horror rather than grandeur.
- An agricultural register—seeds, cultivation, bloodlines, lineage, harvest—connects the colony and the Throne because both grow people to specification.
- The current narration mode is first-person present tense. Narrator ignorance is an engine, not a defect.
- Development notes should prioritize structural clarity: the component, people involved, mechanism, evidence, and function in the larger story.
- Development prototypes and exploratory prose are not manuscript prose or canon. Names remain provisional, and GPT should not add decorative canon while organizing a concept.
