Konrad genuinely controls these systems in his own city before the defeat he never considered. After the surviving leadership enters the largest empire's containment environment, Samuel remains an outsider but persuades Konrad to reactivate or migrate Fitzgerald machinery into a shared environment where Samuel holds structural alpha priority. Samuel presents Konrad's half as separate; the separation is false. That migration creates the causal path toward Samuel's influence, revenge, dynastic corruption, and private blackmail. The exact reactivation mechanism, automatic powers, and bounded observation limits remain unresolved.

Konrad's motive is now explicit: he believes his Great War Daemon can use the reactivated system to dominate Samuel and prove that Konrad can achieve with an older AI soul what Sylvan is meant to prove with the successor Luminai. The breeding program is not accidentally left exposed. Konrad brings it back because he believes final victory will restore its legitimacy and forgive every risk.

The purity doctrine

The contained organization is deeply racist in the invented world's terms. Its members classify ancestry into ranked categories, condemn mixture with disfavored populations, and connect political standing to claims of genealogical purity.
