BA-04: The Book One opening
Purpose
Choose the reader's first human experience of the story and make it carry the objective, tone, and mystery without explaining the whole system.
Established
Book One occurs near the end of the process. Surface life must feel real before hidden architecture dominates it. Sylvan is the central inheritor, Orzai is an independent partner, George is present in the newer environment, and Samuel's apparent control is approaching collapse.

Four possibilities
- Sylvan under ordinary pressure: a practical work, resource, or relationship problem exposes the first impossible discrepancy.
- Orzai sees the false frame: her professional judgment detects a manipulated representation before Sylvan accepts its significance.
- George receives an assignment: Samuel gives George a seemingly manageable task whose hidden purpose is to prepare the scapegoat.
- Controlled collision: two viewpoints encounter the same event with incompatible explanations, establishing the evidence problem immediately.
Central author gate
Whose viewpoint opens Book One, what do they want before the larger plot interrupts them, what event disrupts that goal, and which concrete discrepancy makes the reader need the next chapter?
Scene test
The opening works as lived experience even if all process terminology is removed. It produces a decision, not only an atmospheric anomaly.
Adversarial test
If the opening exists mainly to explain the system, the surface world will not feel real. If the anomaly has no immediate personal consequence, it will not propel the story.
