title: George's final choice
gate: What does George choose when he understands that Samuel's godhood campaign requires him to carry the blame?
prerequisites: BA-05, BA-07
BA-08: George's final choice
Purpose
Give George agency in the climax rather than using him only as Samuel's operational scapegoat.
Established
Samuel drags George into the apocalyptic living-god attempt and positions him to absorb operational blame. George is a direct participant on the newer planet and retains an independent evidence route he has repeatedly failed to use.

Four possibilities
- Late corroboration: George authenticates a crucial record after realizing Samuel intends to abandon him.
- Operational refusal: George refuses one final action, limiting harm without erasing his earlier participation.
- Self-protective betrayal: George exposes Samuel primarily to save himself, producing useful truth without moral absolution.
- Failed escape with evidence: George tries to preserve both loyalty and innocence, fails, but leaves a record that becomes decisive.
Central author gate
What final action does Samuel require from George, when does George understand the scapegoat design, what does George choose, and how does that choice affect harm, evidence, and his own accountability?
Scene test
George's decision changes at least one outcome but does not erase the consequences of his previous choices.
Adversarial test
If George becomes heroic through one late act, accountability becomes sentimental. If nothing he does matters, decades of direct participation have no dramatic payoff.
