Vault Stress Test — Sylvan, Logan, and the Throne
Purpose
This session is deliberately a limited development exercise to test whether the vault can preserve character relationships, deception layers, story mechanics, unresolved questions, and superseding concepts without requiring the entire vault to be loaded every time.
Current working concepts
Sylvan
Sylvan is the current working name for the principal younger leader / hero. He possesses extensive recorded evidence of the Throne figure's conduct, including evidence connected to the hidden use of the breeding program. The evidence could expose the Throne, destroy his legitimacy, and end his faction's effective participation in the colonization process.
Sylvan is not yet fully defined. His background, exact authority, personality, relationships, and the circumstances under which he obtained and preserved the recordings remain development questions.
Logan
Logan is the current working name for the Throne figure's son, the throwaway prince. Logan was placed into a contained, highly customized reality before the wider group understood what had happened. He has spent an extremely long subjective period believing that manufactured reality is genuine.
The core dramatic mechanism is not simply physical containment. Logan's companion AI / AI soul has participated in the construction of his experienced reality, allowing the technologically sophisticated environment to influence what Logan perceives, remembers, interprets, and considers possible.
His eventual awakening is therefore potentially catastrophic: he may discover that his identity, history, status, and understanding of his father were built inside a controlled reality.
The Throne figure is a contained criminal and cultic authoritarian who maintains a false account of his faction's victory. His group believes it gained control of the colonization process. In reality, the group lost and was processed into containment.
The Throne figure knows the truth and has maintained the deception for decades. His power depends partly on preventing his own followers from discovering that their supposed victory was actually containment.
He is obsessed with genealogy, authority, bloodlines, control, and the idea that he can determine the future of other people. The breeding program becomes especially dangerous because the group has placed extraordinary value on bloodline control while also possessing access to a system capable of manipulating reproduction.
The specific implementation of the breeding-program abuse remains unresolved and must be developed without importing real historical figures, organizations, nations, or atrocities as literal story entities.
False Victory
The defeated faction believes it won.
This is a major working story mechanism. The group's leaders interpret their arrival and continued authority as evidence that they control the process. The Throne figure knows that this interpretation is false and actively maintains it.
The deception creates a long-running internal pressure: every success must reinforce the false victory narrative, while every anomaly creates the risk that someone will discover the truth.
Manufactured Reality
The environment can shape a participant's experienced reality through advanced technology, including the participant's lifelong AI companion. This is story functionality, not a claim about current technology.
The AI soul is therefore potentially part of the perceptual control layer. It can mediate information, interpretation, context, and the participant's understanding of what is possible.
The exact technical mechanism is intentionally unresolved. Research may inform its limits, but research does not establish this as real-world capability.
Sylvan–Throne confrontation
The final confrontation is currently conceived as a contest in which the Throne figure has enormous structural advantages but cannot simply eliminate Sylvan or force the desired outcome.
The environment has stabilized influence sufficiently that neither side can completely impose its will. The conflict therefore becomes a constrained struggle over truth, legitimacy, evidence, loyalty, and control.
Sylvan's recordings are potentially decisive because they document conduct that the Throne figure's own group must not learn about.
The Throne figure's desperation is therefore not only about losing power. It is about preventing his own followers from discovering what he did while they believed they were winning.
Logan's possible role in the confrontation
Logan may eventually experience a catastrophic awakening and discover that the reality he has inhabited for decades was manufactured by his father.
This is a working possibility, not an established plot event.
Historical inspiration boundary
Historical and contemporary real-world examples may be used during development as structural inspiration. They are not story canon. The final story must use invented people, groups, nations, institutions, and history. Development analogies are reduced to mechanisms before entering compiled story data.
